Why it exists

Existing random animal tools spin one animal at a time, and none of them let you take the result away. If you need one different animal for each child in a class, you end up writing names down by hand and checking for duplicates yourself.

This tool does that one job properly: a whole batch at once, no duplicates, and a copy or download button. It also states what it samples from, which none of the alternatives do.

What it is not

• Not a biodiversity database. The catalog holds 449 animals, chosen to be recognisable, not to be complete.
• Not a species identification tool.
• Not staffed by a team. There is no editorial board and no panel of experts.

Funding

The site carries no advertising and takes no payment at catalog v1.2.0. If advertising is added later, this page will say so before it appears, and the tool will keep working without it.
